The SLE 2026 conference offers a range of social events designed to foster networking in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Welcome reception
The welcome reception will take place on the first day of the conference, Wednesday, 26 August, immediately following the final session.
If you would like to attend the reception, please indicate your interest in the registration form. The event is included in the conference fee.
City walk
On the second day of the conference, Thursday, 27 August, a guided city walk will be organised after the round table session. A coffee break beforehand will give participants time to relax and refresh before the tour.
The walk will be offered in two groups: the first departing at 17:00 and the second at 18:30. This arrangement allows participants to choose their preferred timeslot – either immediately after the round table and coffee break or just before the conference dinner – while also helping to avoid overcrowding.
The walking tour will be offered in English and German. It lasts 90 minutes.
To register for the walk, indicate your interest in the registration form. The city walk is included in the conference fee.
Conference dinner
The conference dinner will take place on the second day of the conference, Thursday 27 August, after the city walk.
It will take place at two locations: the Brewery and the Tavern. Both venues are historical Osnabrück sites and about 50m away from each other, on the same street in the old city. When registering for the dinner, please select your preferred location. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The conference dinner is not included in the conference fee.
Venue 1 „The Brewery”

Right in the middle of the old city, this historic building features one of the few 18th century baroque gables that survived the war, not to mention parts of a twelfth century wall in the back. Once a town house of wealthy burghers, this building now hosts one of our local breweries. Various types of beer are still brewed on site. Their bread made out of brewer’s grains, served with goose fat, is legendary. Enjoy the atmosphere of a popular local pub on three different levels. And can you solve the puzzle: what does Rampendahl mean?
Conference dinner will be buffet style, with meat, vegetarian, and vegan options. Drinks are included.
Venue 2 „The Tavern“

One of the oldest buildings in town – and the oldest tavern, established in 1798! They don’t brew their own beer, but they are rightfully proud to serve „Herr Schmidt Bier“, brewed in Osnabrück with organic ingredients, and a local institution that, as a matter of principle, gives parts of its revenue to local charity. The tavern offers a truly local & historical experience in a building with nooks and crannies, a beer garden, and the infamous „gossip corner“, where you’re free to speak your mind. And here’s your puzzle: who was Fritz Wolf?

Disco

Since neither the Brewery nor the Tavern on Thursday night allow for any dancing, we decided, in keeping with tradition, and per special request by somebody who does not want to be named, to offer you a Conference Disco on Friday night!
The Blue Note is a laid-back, well-known modern party location with a relaxed atmosphere and helpful staff, located right next to one of our local cinemas in the city center. We’ll have a large dance floor, professional lightening, sound equipment, our very special SLE DJ, and a professional dance instructor to help you get started if you like
The disco is not included in the conference fee. The10 Euro fee includes a welcome drink. Drinks (reasonably priced) and small snacks are on a self-paying basis throughout the evening.
