Conference venue

All activities of the SLE annual meeting in Osnabrück will be held on the city center campus of Osnabrück University.

Most events, i.e. general sessions and workshops, the members’ meeting, the closing session, as well as the coffee breaks, will take place in Building 15 (Seminarstraße 20). This is also where to find the registration desk and student helpers who will be happy to assist.

Awards will be presented in the distinctive yellow Schloss/Bishop’s Palace in Building 11 (Neuer Graben 29), right across Building 15. Weather permitting, the welcome reception will be held on the terrace of the Bishop’s Palace, overlooking the palace garden.

The opening session and plenary sessions will take place in Building 01 (Kolpingstraße 7), which is across the street from Building 15.

Lunch will be served in the cafeteria (M, Ritterstraße 10) behind Building 15.

How to get to Osnabrück

By train

Osnabrück is well-connected to both the short-distance and the long-distance train network. Find a suitable train connection on the Deutsche Bahn website: https://int.bahn.de/en. The main station (Osnabrück Hbf) is only a 20 minutes’ walk (or a short bus ride) away from the conference venue and the city center.

Please be aware that Deutsche Bahn, the German railway network, is currently experiencing irregularities and reduced performance. Please allow extra time for any train connections.

By car

You can reach Osnabrück by car via the A1, the A30 and the A33.

By plane

The airports closest to Osnabrück are Münster/Osnabrück (FMO), Bremen (BRE), Hannover (HAJ), Hamburg (HAM), Düsseldorf (DUS), Köln/Bonn (CGN), Frankfurt (FRA) and Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS, Netherlands). The airports in Düsseldorf and Frankfurt have train stations with direct connections to Osnabrück main station. For the remaining cities, there are regular train connections to Osnabrück, but you will have to get a transfer to the cities’ main train station. There is no direct bus transfer from Münster/Osnabrück (FMO) to Osnabrück; transfer only via Münster Central Station.

For transfers from Frankfurt (FRA) and Amsterdam (AMS), we would advise against relying on the last scheduled train of the day for onward travel. Late-night services may be cancelled or delayed, which could leave you stranded.
