<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe first day of the SLE 2025 Annual Meeting concludes with a welcome reception at Bordeaux’s City Hall, the renowned Palais Rohan. Built between 1771 and 1784, this grand palace originally served as the Archbishop\u2019s residence in Bordeaux. Designed by architect Richard-Fran\u00e7ois Bonfin, it was intended to reflect the prestige and rank of the Archbishop at the time, Ferdinand Maximilien M\u00e9riadec, Prince of Rohan. Following the French Revolution of 1789, the palace underwent a significant transformation in both function and purpose. In 1791, it became the prefecture of the Gironde department, before being repurposed as Bordeaux\u2019s City Hall in 1835. Despite numerous modifications over the years, the palace\u2019s interior has preserved many remarkable architectural features from the 18th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
City walk through Bordeaux<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n At the end of the second day of the SLE 2025 Annual Meeting, you will have the opportunity to explore the historic city of Bordeaux on a guided walking tour. Our journey begins at Place Pey Berland before heading to the Esplanade des Quinconces, home to the impressive Girondist Monument, which commemorates the Girondins political group and their struggle against the Jacobins in the wake of the French Revolution. As we stroll through Bordeaux\u2019s elegant streets, admire the stunning 18th-century fa\u00e7ades, luxury boutiques, and gourmet restaurants lining the All\u00e9es de Tourny. We will then arrive at the Grand Th\u00e9\u00e2tre, a magnificent 18th-century architectural masterpiece that now serves as the stage for the Bordeaux National Opera. Continuing our tour, we will visit the 17th-century baroque and classical Church of Our Lady before passing through the charming Passage Sarget to reach the stately mansion houses of the Cours de l\u2019Intendance. Gaze upon the Place de la Bourse, once the city’s historic trade center, and its stunning water mirror, a UNESCO World Heritage site that beautifully reflects Bordeaux\u2019s skyline. Enjoy the serene ambiance of Place du Parlement and its elegant fountain before making your way to Saint Peter Church, nestled among countless caf\u00e9s, bars, and restaurants. From there, wander along the pleasant pedestrian streets to Place Camille Jullian, home to a cinema housed in a former 14th-century church.
