The upcoming edition of the SLE meeting will also host a round table of experts to discuss topics of special linguistic interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-blue-light-background-color has-background\">The deadline for all abstracts is <strong>15 January 2025<\/strong>. We encourage all SLE members to submit their questions, comments, points for discussion prior to the meeting by emailing the conference manager (sle.cm@kuleuven.be).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-grey-light-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Workshop proposal: submission guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>deadline for workshop proposal: 20 November 2024<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>notification of workshop\u2019s acceptance\/rejection: 15 December 2024<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>deadline for abstract submission: 15 January 2025<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Workshops are organized in 30 minute slots (20 min. presentation, 5 min. discussion, 5 min. room change). Workshops contain minimum 10 slots:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:lower-alpha\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>an introductory paper by the convenor(s) or by a keynote speaker, which summarizes previous research, specifies the approach(es) to be taken and sets the scope of the papers to be presented;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>minimum eight papers;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a final discussion on the topics covered by the papers, methodological issues and questions for future research.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Workshop proposals must contain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>five keywords;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a description of the topic and research questions (between 900 and 1,100 words excluding references and glosses);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a (provisional) list of workshop participants and their provisional abstracts (max. 300 words per abstract); at least 6 abstracts but it is advised to submit 2-3 more; please notice that all abstracts will be later reviewed by SLE Programme Committee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Workshop convenors are encouraged to announce their proposal on the conference website (via the conference manager <a href=\"mailto:sle.cm@kuleuven.be\">sle.cm@kuleuven.be<\/a>) and on the Linguist List as a session of SLE 2025, as well as other fora in the linguistic area of the workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to announce a Workshop on the Linguist List:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to linguistlist.org and select: \u201cConferences\u201d 4 \u201cSubmit conference info\u201d 4 step 1: select August 2025 4 submit 4 step 2: select \u201c58<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Meeting of the Societas Linguistica Europaea\u201d 4 at step 3: Enter information, go to Session information and click on \u201cAdd session\u201d. Fill in the required fields, upload your proposal by clicking on \u201cAdd session call\u201d and submit. Linguist List session calls are limited to 3,800 characters (all included). &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ATTENTION: <\/strong>Workshop proposals must be submitted as <strong>one file<\/strong> <strong>in pdf<\/strong> and sent to the chair of SLE workshops Karolina Grzech (karolina.grzech@upf.edu) and to the conference manager (<a href=\"mailto:sle.cm@kuleuven.be\">sle.cm@kuleuven.be<\/a>) by 20 November 2024. Notification of acceptance\/rejection will be by 15 December 2024. After a workshop proposal has been accepted, the convenors will be requested to invite all preliminary workshop participants to submit their full abstracts <strong>in EasyChair<u> before 15 January 2025<\/u><\/strong>. The link for workshop abstract submission will be available in the Third Call for Papers (published by 15 December). Accepted workshop proposals will be published on the conference webpage. Other authors interested in the workshop may submit their papers to the workshop at the conference general call. Finally, all abstracts submitted to the workshop in EasyChair will be reviewed individually by the Programme Committee and the workshop convenors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-grey-light-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\"><strong>General session papers and posters: submission guidance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>deadline for abstracts: 15 January 2025<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>notification of acceptance\/rejection: 31 March 2025<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Abstracts should clearly state the research questions, approach, method, data and (expected) results. They should not contain the names of the presenters, nor their affiliations or addresses, or any other information that could reveal their authorship. They should not exceed 500 words (including examples, excluding references). Abstracts should have the same title as the entry submitted via EasyChair. Some guidelines about how to write a good abstract can be found under the tab \u201cHow to write a good abstract\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presentations will last 20 minutes, allowing 5 min. for discussion and 5 min. for speaker and room changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abstracts are submitted via EasyChair within the SLE Members\u2019 Area: <a href=\"https:\/\/societaslinguistica.eu\/members\/login\/\">https:\/\/societaslinguistica.eu\/members\/login\/<\/a> Please keep in mind that SLE is a members\u2019 association run by and for members. Hence, the person submitting an abstract has to be an SLE member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please notice that SLE 2025 is an on-site conference. For the convenience of SLE members, the plenary sessions will be streamed. The general session talks will take place on-site. The workshop convenors may opt for a self-supported hybrid format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Submitting multiple papers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to guarantee diversity, one person may be the <strong>first author<\/strong> of only <strong>one<\/strong> submission of any kind (workshop paper, general session paper, poster, or workshop proposal); nobody is allowed to present or co-present more than two papers at an SLE conference (including workshops). You can co-author more than two papers but you cannot figure among the co-presenters at the conference (i.e. if you co-author more than two papers, you will have to play a background role).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Presenting a poster<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SLE 2025 meeting will have one or two poster sessions for both senior and junior researchers. In order to foster interaction, all other sessions will be suspended during the poster session. Posters will be displayed in a gathering area and may remain available during the rest of the conference. The maximum size of the poster is usually 1.20 m (vertical) x 1 m (horizontal). For more information about how to make a good poster, <a href=\"http:\/\/people.eku.edu\/ritchisong\/posterpres.html\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reviewing procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by three referees. Workshop abstracts receive two evaluations by Programme Committee members and one by the workshop convenors. Abstracts submitted to the general session and to the poster session will be evaluated by three members of the Programme Committee. The threshold for acceptance is the same for general session papers, posters and workshop papers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prize for the best presentation and the best poster<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At SLE conferences there are prizes for the following categories (see <a href=\"https:\/\/societaslinguistica.eu\/award-winners-at-sle2023\/\">Award winners<\/a>):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>best oral presentation by a PhD student,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>best oral presentation by a postdoc, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>best poster.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants can mark the option for each of the award categories in EasyChair upon abstract submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rules<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PhD students should not have completed their PhD before the conference. Postdocs should have completed their PhD not earlier than three years before the year of the conference (2022 for the SLE 2025 conference). All posters will be eligible for the best poster prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A shortlisted paper may be co-authored. Co-authored papers should be presented at the conference by the nominee, who will also have to be the first author of the paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prizes<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first prize in each of the three categories is 500 Euros. The winners of the first prizes in the PhD and Postdoc categories are also awarded a 20+5 mins. plenary talk at SLE 2026 (Osnabr\u00fcck). The 2nd and 3rd prizes will receive a three-year&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.societaslinguistica.eu\/membership\/join.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SLE membership<\/a>. The best poster will be invited to be published on the SLE website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-grey-light-background-color has-background\"><strong>Important dates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20 November 2024: workshop proposals submission deadline<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15 December 2024: notification of workshop acceptance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15 January 2025: deadline for submission of all abstracts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>31 March 2025: notification of paper acceptance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 April 2025: early bird registration starts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 May 2025: full fee registration starts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>31 May 2025: closing registration date for participants with a paper<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>31 July 2025: closing registration date for participants without a paper, and for co-authors of papers were at least one author has already registered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that papers for which none of the authors has registered by 31 May will not be scheduled. The schedule will be published online in June after the registration deadline. The schedule will then be modified only in the event of cancellations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-grey-light-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Registration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Registration will open on 1 April 2025. SLE meetings are member-only conferences. The Bordeaux Montaigne University campus is located 6 km away from the centre of Bordeaux, in the municipality of Pessac.
