Rosetti\u201d Institute of Linguistics (The Romanian Academy) are pleased to announce the 55th Annual Meeting of the Societas Linguistica Europaea (SLE 2022), to be held in Bucharest, 24\u201327 August 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SLE\nmeetings provide a forum for high-quality linguistic research from all\n(sub)domains of linguistics. The upcoming edition of the SLE meeting will also\nhost a round table of experts to discuss topics of special linguistic interest.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deadline for all abstracts is <strong>15 January 2022<\/strong>. Workshops will contain either 10 or 15 slots (1 or 1,5 days). Each workshop comprises:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>an introductory paper by the convenor(s) or by a keynote speaker, which summarizes previous research, specifies the approach(es) to be taken and sets the scope of the papers to be presented.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>eight papers (1 day) or thirteen papers (1,5 days).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a slot for a final discussion on the topics covered by the papers, methodological issues and questions for future research.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Further details can be discussed with the SLE\nConference Manager (<a href=\"mailto:sle@univ-tlse2.fr\">sle@univ-tlse2.fr<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Workshop proposals must contain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>five keywords<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a description of the topic and research questions (between 900 and 1100 words).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a (provisional) list of workshop participants and their provisional abstracts (max. 300 words per abstract); at least 8 abstracts for a short workshop, at least 13 abstracts for a long workshop. It is recommended to submit 2-3 more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Workshop convenors are encouraged to announce their proposal on the conference website (please send it to the conference manager <a href=\"sle@univ-tlse2.fr\">sleATuniv-tlse2.fr<\/a>) and on the LinguistList as a session of SLE 2022 (for detailed instructions how to do this, see below), as well as other fora in the linguistic area of the workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Workshop proposals must be submitted as <strong>one file<\/strong> <strong>in pdf<\/strong> and sent to the chair of SLE workshops Eitan Grossman (<a href=\"mailto:eitan.grossman@mail.huji.ac.il\">eitan.grossmanATmail.huji.ac.il<\/a>) and to the Conference Manager (<a href=\"mailto:sle@univ-tlse2.fr\">sleATuniv-tlse2.fr<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>ATTENTION: The deadline for the submission of workshop proposals is 20 November 2021. <\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Notification of acceptance\/rejection will be given by 15 December 2021. After a workshop proposal has been accepted, the convenors will be requested to invite all preliminary workshop participants to submit their full abstracts <strong>in Easychair before 15 January 2022<\/strong>. The link for workshop abstract submission will be available in the Third Call for Papers (published by 15 December). Accepted workshop proposals will be published on the conference webpage. Other authors interested in the workshop may submit their papers to the workshop. Abstracts submitted by non-members will not be considered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/easychair.org\/conferences\/?conf=sle2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Easychair submission link<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Abstracts should clearly state the research questions, approach, method, data and (expected) results. They should not contain the names of the presenters, nor their affiliations or addresses, nor any other information that could reveal their authorship. They should not exceed 500 words (including examples, excluding references). Abstracts should have the same title as the entry submitted via Easychair. Some guidelines about how to write a good abstract can be found under the tab \u201cHow to write a good abstract\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presentations will last 20 minutes, with 5 min. for discussion, and 5 min. for speaker and room changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SUBMITTING MULTIPLE PAPERS. In order to guarantee diversity, one person may be the <strong>first author<\/strong> of only <strong>one<\/strong> submission of any kind (workshop paper, general session paper, poster, or workshop proposal); nobody is allowed to present or co-present more than two papers at an SLE conference (including workshops). You can co-author more than two papers but you cannot figure among the co-presenters at the conference (i.e. if you co-author more than two papers, you will have to play a background role).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"presenting-a-poster\"><\/span>Presenting a poster<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The SLE 2022 meeting will have one or two poster sessions for both\nsenior and junior researchers. In order to foster interaction, all other\nsessions will be suspended during the poster session. Posters will be displayed\nin a gathering area and may remain available during the rest of the conference.\nThe maximum size of the poster is usually 1.20 m (vertical) x 1 m (horizontal).\nFor more information about how to make a good poster, <a href=\"http:\/\/people.eku.edu\/ritchisong\/posterpres.html\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"reviewing-procedure\"><\/span>Reviewing procedure<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by three referees. Workshop\nabstracts receive two evaluations by Programme Committee members and one by the\nworkshop convenors. Abstracts submitted to the general session and to the poster\nsession will be evaluated by three members of the Programme Committee. The\nthreshold for acceptance is the same for general session papers, posters and\nworkshop papers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"prize-for-the-best-presentation-and-the-best-poster\"><\/span>Prize for the best presentation and the best poster<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At SLE conferences there are prizes for the following categories (see <a href=\"https:\/\/societaslinguistica.test\/award-winners-at-sle2021\/\">Award winners 2021<\/a>): <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>best oral presentation by a PhD student,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>best oral presentation by a postdoc, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>best poster.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants can mark their option for each of the award categories in Easychair upon abstract submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-indent\">Rules<strong> <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-indent\">PhD students\nshould not have completed their PhD before the conference. Postdocs should have\ncompleted their PhD not earlier than three years before the year of the\nconference (for example 2019 for the SLE 2022 conference). All posters will be\neligible for the best poster prize. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-indent\">A shortlisted paper may be co-authored. Co-authored papers in categories i) and ii) above should be presented at the conference by the nominee, who will also have to be the first author of the paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-indent\">Prizes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-indent\">The first prize in each of the three categories is 500 Euros. The winners of the first prizes in the PhD and Postdoc categories are also awarded a 20+5 mins. plenary talk at SLE 2023 (Athens). The 2nd and 3rd prizes will receive a three-year&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.societaslinguistica.eu\/membership\/join.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SLE membership<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"important-dates\"><\/span>Important dates<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>20 November 2021: workshop proposals submission deadline<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>15 December 2021: notification of workshop acceptance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>15 January 2022: deadline for submission of all abstracts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>31 March 2022: notification of paper acceptance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 April 2022: early bird registration starts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 May 2022: full fee registration starts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>31 May 2022: closing registration date for participants with a paper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>31 July 2022: closing registration date for participants without a paper, and for co-authors of papers where at least one author has already registered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that papers for which none of the authors has registered by\n31 May will not be scheduled. The schedule will be published online in June\nafter the registration deadline. The schedule will then be modified only in the\nevent of cancellations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"registration\"><\/span>Registration<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Registration will open on 1 April 2022. SLE meetings are member-only conferences. That is, all participants will have to be or become members of the Societas Linguistica Europaea to be able to register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"social-programme\"><\/span>Social programme<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be a reception on Wednesday evening (included in the registration fee), a walking tour in Bucharest&#8217;s historical city centre (included in the registration fee) and a conference dinner and party on Friday evening (not included in the conference fee).
